I am so sad to say that this morning Actor Bernie Mac and Chicago representatives has died. Bernie suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.

Mac also had roles in Damon Wayans movie “Mo’ Money” in 1992. Mac went on to star in the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise with Brad Pitt and George Clooney and his turn with Ashton Kutcher in 2005’s “Guess Who?”Bad Santa,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and “Transformers.”

The comedian drew critical and popular acclaim with his Fox television series “The Bernie Mac Show,” which aired more than 100 episodes from 2001 to 2006.

The series about a man’s adventures raising his sister’s three children, won a Peabody Award in 2002. At the time, judges wrote they chose the sitcom for transcending “race and class while lifting viewers with laughter, compassion – and cool.”

My dude Berine has been nominated for countless awards such as Grammy’s,Emmy, and Golden Globles. Bernie was just 50 years old when he passed.

The September issue of Ebony Magazine showcases First lady hopeful Michelle Obama as she shares the inside story on Barack, her signature style and the campaign trail. Here’s a couple of quotes from the story.

MICHELLE OBAMA:

On campaigning and the American people…

“It has been a blessing for us to have this opportunity to spend this year traveling the country,” she tells Ebony magazine. “We’ve been in almost every state in this nation—in people’s homes, in their kitchens, in their community centers, and just having the opportunity to be reminded of how decent the American people are and how our values are so closely linked, that gives me hope.”

On her style…

“I do think what you wear is a reflection of who you are. I love to look glamorous when there’s a wonderful, purposeful event that is appropriate. But when I’m in Iowa campaigning with the girls, I am in Gap shorts and a T-shirt.”

On being a mom…

“My first job in all honesty is going to continue to be mom-in-chief,” she says, “making sure that in this transition, which will be even more of a transition for the girls…that they are settled and that they know they will continue to be the center of our universe.”

On being married to Barack…

“Barack and I – as partners, as friends and as lovers– we accessorize each other in many ways,” she said. “The best thing I love having on me is Barack on my arm and vice versa, whether it’s having him standing there smiling at me, or watching him mesmerize a crowd or talk to some seniors in a senior center.”

SEN. BARACK OBAMA:
On Michelle balancing work and family…

“Michelle believes deeply in the American Dream – because she’s lived it. And as a mother of our two young daughters, she understands firsthand the challenge of balancing work and family. That ability to empathize and understand the struggles that so many hardworking families are going through will be valuable to have as a first lady.”

MARIAN JOHNSON: (Michelle’s mom)
On Michelle being driven

“She always wanted to do her best, and I don’t think it had anything to do with outdoing someone else. It’s within her.”

Robin Givhan: (Renowned fashion editor for The Washington Post)
On Michelle’s style

“People associate her with Jackie Kennedy because that’s the last time there was a first lady with a trademark style.”

There is a National Enquirer article this week talking about Barbarba Walters on the brink of firing Sherri Shepherd. Well, I personally don’t believe everything the National Enquirer has to say but everytime they said Barbarba is gonna fire someone, it does happend.

Here’s what the Enquirer had to say:

“Barbara has had it with her,” said the source. “Barbara was shocked that Sherri would say she needs to be ’saved’. She’s dumbfounded by the stupid things that keep coming out of Sherri’s mouth…

Barbara has been saying that Sherri’s a “loose cannon,” added the source. “And after hearing what she said to a Christian magazine, word came back from Barbara that she wants to boot her off the show.

“Barbara thinks Sherri has become far worse of a problem than Star Jones and Rosie’s O’Donnel when they were on the show - and that’s saying a lot!”

While Barbara is ready to see Sherri move on from “The View,” insiders say it’s unlikely there will be a dramatic firing.

“Barbara may first give her a chance to shape up before shipping her out…

“And if Barbara does let Sherri go, expect a fun farewell with the whole gang saying only nice things about Sherri in public.”

GET WELL SOON MORGAN FREEDMAN

Morgan Freeman had surgery Monday evening to repair injuries suffered in a car accident late Sunday near his Mississippi home. The Oscar-winning actor, 71, “has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage but is in good spirits,” his publicist, Donna Lee, said in a statement.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Ben Williams said Freeman was traveling east on Mississippi 32 in Tallahatchie County at 11:30 p.m. when his vehicle left the road, flipping several times. Williams said the jaws of life were used to extract Freeman, and his female passenger, Demaris Meyer, from a 1997 Nissan Maxima before both were airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Williams reported that Freeman, who was driving, and Meyer were wearing seat belts and were conscious when emergency crews arrived.

Filmmaker Paul Saltzman spoke Monday with Freeman and said the actor, who is listed in serious condition, estimated his recovery at six to eight weeks.

Freeman had recently completed a documentary, Prom Night in Mississippi, with Saltzman, detailing the actor’s gift of a groundbreaking integrated school dance to nearby Charleston High School.
GET WELL SOON BERNIE MAC

Comedian Bernie Mac spent his weekend at a Chicago hospital, recovering from pneumonia, reports say.

Rumors circulated the web saying that he has passed away on Sunday, but fortunately, his publicist, Danica Smith dispelled them.

She expressed confidence over his recovery, noting that he “will be released soon.”

Mac, who is still in the hospital in Chicago, has Sarcoidosis. The condition has been in remission since 2005 and his publicist, says sarcoidosis isn’t responsible for Mac’s current illness.
